NEW DELHI: Canon on Thursday lunched a major branding, repositioning exercise and introduced as many as 43 new products across all categories.
The company also announced a system integration tie up with eight PC makers for bundled selling of its peripheral products for the government segment.
Canon which aims to have an authorized retailer in each of the 550 districts, has appointed a national distributor and is readying to tie up with a number of international retail chains which are setting up base in India. The company has just 300 retailers countrywide at present.
It plans to grow its turnover by 30 per cent to touch a turnover of Rs 400 crore. As much as 25 per cent of this will come from a re-strengthened digicam business.
It has launched as 88 products so far this year, including the 43 today, its largest ever. Many of the new products have several new and cutting edge features, including DVD camcorders and a 4 megapixel Mini DV camcorder, world's slimmest scanners and a slew of printers.
Interestingly, over 50 per cent of Canon's revenue this year has come from the new products.
To achieve this, Canon has roped in none other than tennis heartthrob Maria Sharapova. The global campaign 'Get Your Powershot' will be launched in India as well.
